As the Chairman Emeritus of the Homeland Security Committee and a lifelong Texan, I am committed to securing America's borders.

After President Biden rescinded Trump-era policies that secured our border, illegal border crossings rose to record highs. Our border agents are now dealing with thousands of crossings each day, increased cartel activity, drug smuggling, and more. Fentanyl-related deaths have also risen to record highs, killing thousands of young Americans. 

In the 118th Congress, I joined with my Texas Republican colleagues to introduce a border security plan. Together, we are working to put an end to the border crisis Texans are facing each day. I also voted in support of the Secure the Border Act, which contained my provision to compel the Biden administration to bring back Remain in Mexico, a policy that successfullyworked to keep migrants in Mexico while awaiting their asylum hearings.

I am committed to continuing this work to secure our borders and protect our national security.
