WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX) introduced a House Resolution this evening calling on President Obama to suspend aid to Egypt and Libya until the governments of those countries formally apologize to the United States, condemn Tuesday’s attacks at U.S. diplomatic posts, and secure the safety of American diplomats consistent with the 1961 and 1963 Vienna Conventions.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Chairman of Homeland Security Oversight & Investigations and member of the Foreign Affairs Middle East Subcommittee, called for the immediate closing of U.S. embassies and consulates in Egypt and Libya, withdraw of U.S. government personnel from both countries, suspension of aid to those countries, and expulsion of their diplomats from the United States. This follows the attacks on the American embassy in Cairo and our consulate in Benghazi that killed the U.S.

"The Arab spring has turned into an Arab winter. The attacks on America's embassy and consulate and the assassination of our ambassador to Libya and his staff are acts of aggression against the United States that should be condemned in the strongest terms. The manner in which these events occurred is a disgrace to the American people, as was this administration's apologetic response that fails to defend our nation's liberties abroad.
