WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Chairman of Homeland Security Oversight & Investigations and member of the Foreign Affairs Middle East Subcommittee, called for the immediate closing of U.S. embassies and consulates in Egypt and Libya, withdraw of U.S.
"The Arab spring has turned into an Arab winter. The attacks on America's embassy and consulate and the assassination of our ambassador to Libya and his staff are acts of aggression against the United States that should be condemned in the strongest terms.
“I am pleased that this administration has finally headed the many calls in Congress to designate the Haqqani Network as a foreign terrorist organization. Haqqani is responsible for the brutal killing of hundreds of American soldiers in Afghanistan and for terrorizing the Afghan and Pakistani people.
“As a husband and father of five children, including four daughters, I find Rep. Akin’s remarks reprehensible and insulting. I denounce such offensive views in the strongest possible terms.”
