DTV Conversion Information
As your United States Representative for the Tenth District of Texas, I would like to direct your attention to information regarding the mandatory transition from over-the-air analog television broadcasting to digital television broadcasting at midnight on February 18, 2009. Households using analog televisions that are not connected to a converter box, cable, or satellite will stop working because they will be unable to receive digital signals.
Congress has allocated $890 million in federal assistance to help consumers who receive OTA analog broadcasts purchase set top converter boxes to enable their current analog televisions to receive digital signals after February 17, 2009. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration is spearheading the program through which consumers can obtain converter boxes that will receive the new digital signal and "translate" it for analog televisions. Each household is eligible for two $40 coupons, each of which can be applied toward the cost of one converter box.
There are four ways to apply for these coupons:
1. Online: Visit https://www.dtv2009.gov and follow the step-by-step instructions for applying online.
