Rep. McCaul Announces Spring 2023 Intern Class

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) announced the Spring 2023 intern class in his Washington, D.C., personal office.

“It’s an honor to welcome these bright young people to my D.C. office,” said Rep. McCaul. “I have no doubt they will learn a tremendous amount throughout this experience, and I look forward to seeing their contributions to Team McCaul and to our nation.”

Abigail Stem, a native Texan, is a graduate of Denton Calvary Academy. She is currently a sophomore at Texas Tech University, where she is studying Global Studies and Arabic. During her internship, she hopes to deepen her understanding of the relations between the Middle East and the U.S. and learn what role Congress plays in those relationships. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, reading, baking, and doing anything outdoors. 

McKayla Montgomery, born and raised in Utah, is currently attending graduate school at The Institute of World Politics here in Washington, D.C. McKayla will be getting her MA in Statecraft and National Security, with an emphasis in Diplomacy. McKayla received her BS from Utah Valley University in Finance, with a double minor in Economics and Business Management, while being a dual sport athlete in soccer and track. Throughout her internship, McKayla hopes to engage in policy areas relating to human rights and expand her knowledge of foreign affairs. McKayla enjoys sports, Kauai, a good book, and finding the world’s best margherita pizzas.

Holly Jung is a native German speaker with dual citizenship. She graduated from Christopher Newport University in Virginia with a major in Political Science and a minor in German. During her time in Washington, D.C., she hopes to gain skills in speechwriting, build professional relationships, and expand her knowledge of Congress. Outside of the office, you can find her spending time with her friends and playing with her dog.

Rep. McCaul’s Washington, D.C., office provides paid internships for the Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters for undergraduate and graduate students. Students undergo a unique educational experience, where they get hands-on experience working in Congress and learning from the policy, scheduling, and communications teams while expanding their professional network.
