McCaul Warns Terminating MPP Will Only Compound Crisis at Southern Border
Washington, D.C. – Representative Michael McCaul (TX-10) issued the following statement today after the Biden administration decided to terminate the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) instituted by President Trump.
"The MPP was one of the most successful tools for stemming the surge of illegal migrants crossing into the U.S. Since President Biden took office, over 3.1 million illegal immigrants have been apprehended at our southern border, more than 800,000 ‘gotaways,' have entered undetected, enough fentanyl has been seized to kill the U.S. population seven times over and at least 56 individuals on the terrorist watchlist have been apprehended attempting to enter the U.S. By terminating MPP, President Biden and DHS Secretary Mayorkas are failing to fulfill their constitutional obligations to secure the border and ensure the safety and security of the American people."
