McCaul Statement on White House Immigration Plan

May 16, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Michael T. McCaul (TX-10), the Lead Republican on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Chairman Emeritus on the House Homeland Security Committee (TX-10), today issued the following statement on the release of the Trump administration's plan to strengthen border security and reform legal immigration.

Congressman McCaul: "Everyone can agree that our immigration system is in desperate need of reform. As a representative from Texas and the former Homeland Security Committee Chairman, I am glad the White House is continuing the conversation on border security and immigration reform. Last year I introduced the Securing America's Future Act with Congressman Goodlatte. I am hopeful that many of the concepts of our bill, including securing our porous border and closing the legal loopholes in our broken immigration system, are incorporated in the White House's plan. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find a long-term solution to end the national security and humanitarian crisis at our southern border."
