McCaul Statement on Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform Act

WASHINGTON, DC–Today following passage of the Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform (STRR) Act, Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX) made the following statement:

McCaul: "Right here in Texas we understand the challenges of transportation and overcrowded highways. In fact, just this week Texans voted overwhelmingly to fund state-wide highway projects. With this highway bill, Congress is upholding it's side of the equation for once. While it's by no means perfect, the Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform (STRR) Act of 2015 will give folks in Texas a long-term plan and the support and certainty they need to invest in large-scale transportation construction and repairs. The STRR Act also cuts red tape and reforms the environmental review process and cleans up bureaucracy within the Department of Transportation. The improvements this legislation makes to our critical infrastructure and the certainty it provides for people who live and work in Texas earned my support along with the support of an overwhelming majority of my colleagues. It isn't perfect, but it is what our country needs; more state control, more jobs, and better roads."
