Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement after Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX-21) announced that he will retire at the end of his current term:

Congressman McCaul: “Thank you to my friend and fellow Texas Chairman for his three decades of service in the People’s House. It has been an honor and a privilege to work alongside Lamar as the Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and his previous years of leadership on the House Judiciary and Ethics Committees. He has also been a critical voice in national security, as he formed the Border Security Caucus and served on the House Committee on Homeland Security.  I wish Lamar and his family the best, especially with his second grandchild on the way!”
