McCaul on DHS Secretary Nielsen’s Departure

April 7, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Michael T. McCaul (R-TX), the Lead Republican on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Chairman Emeritus on the House Homeland Security Committee, released the following statement on Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen's departure:

Congressman McCaul: "As the former Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, I want to thank Kirstjen Nielsen for her years of service to our nation, especially during her recent tenure as the Secretary of Homeland Security. Throughout her career, she has been a principled voice on national security issues and wholly understands the complex threats we face. I am confident that Kevin McAleenan, who most recently served as the commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, is prepared to meet the challenges of the position and look forward to working with him to improve the policies and practices at the Department of Homeland Security."
