KATY, TX – Congressman Michael T. McCaul (R-TX), the Lead Republican on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Chairman Emeritus on the House Homeland Security Committee, today led a roundtable discussion at Katy Independent School District's (ISD) Agricultural Sciences Center with Katy FFA students and Katy ISD staff.

Congressman McCaul: "The new Agriculture Sciences Center on Katy ISD's campus is an incredible facility that will benefit FFA students, will host the annual FFA student livestock show and will provide hands-on learning opportunities for students of all grade levels.

"Our nation was built by hardworking farmers who continually fight to keep the United States a world leader in agriculture, and we must ensure more young farmers maintain this vital work. To that end, I introduced the Student Agriculture Protection Act (SAPA)to encourage young farmers to pursue a career in the farming business by excluding the first $5,000 made from the sale of agriculture projects for students. This common-sense solution removes unnecessary barriers and incentivizes student farmers to join the legacy of patriotic Texas farmers.

"I'm confident that this new center will also play an important role in inspiring the next generation of America's farmers."
