McCaul Hires New Communications Director, Promotes Current Staff

February 17, 2023

WASHINGTON – Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) has hired Emily Cassil to serve as the communications director in his personal office, where she will manage all Texas media requests and personal office communications products, and serve as a senior advisor to the congressman. Cassil previously served as the deputy press secretary for McCaul in both his personal office and on the House Foreign Affairs Committee from 2020 to early 2021. Most recently, she served as the deputy press secretary for Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.). Cassil is originally from Dallas, TX, and is a graduate of Furman University.

“Emily Cassil was a valuable part of Team McCaul previously, and I’m excited to welcome her back to our family,” stated McCaul. “She is a hard worker and knows her home state of Texas like the back of her hand. Her experience will be an invaluable addition to the communications team.”

Cassil replaces Michael Frohlich, who has been promoted to director for speechwriting on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where McCaul currently serves as chairman. He will also continue to serve as a senior advisor in the congressman’s personal office. In addition, Leslie Shedd, who currently serves as the communications director for the committee, will now also serve as deputy chief of staff for communications in McCaul’s personal office.
