McCaul on Fox News From the Border: Mayorkas is the Architect of Destruction Down Here
McALLEN, TEXAS – This week, U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) — chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and chairman emeritus of the Homeland Security Committee — joined Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures live from the Texas border to discuss his bipartisan congressional delegation's trip to the border, their upcoming visits with Mexican leaders, and House Republicans' efforts to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

On the importance of a Remain in Mexico policy:
“[The crisis has] gotten worse. [On his] first day in office, [President Biden] rescinds the very policies that were working, that I worked on with the Trump administration — that being Remain in Mexico, the Migrant Protection Protocols. That was a direct cause and effect, as Border Patrol Chief Ortiz told us.
“What [Remain in Mexico] means is that their political asylum claims are adjudicated [while they wait] outside the United States. What we saw yesterday is we don’t have enough detention space. So they release them — catch and release — into society. That is the key here that has to stop. And it’s not throwing a bunch of money down here; it’s policy changes.”
On the real-life consequences of the border crisis:
"We had two mothers testify before [the Homeland Security Committee] who lost their loved ones — one to fentanyl, [and] another daughter got raped [and murdered] by an MS-13 gang banger from Honduras. This is the real life tragedy that we are seeing on the ground. It's tearing apart the fabric of this nation. It's a human tragedy, and it needs to stop."
On the impacts of the crisis in Texas and beyond:
"It's not just here [in Texas]. It's in New York, it's in Ohio, it's everywhere across the nation that's impacted [by the border crisis]. And thank God my governor has sent migrants to New York so they can get a taste of what we experience here in Texas."
On Secretary Mayorkas' culpability:
"I'm one voice, but I represent 800,000 people. When I go home, the number one issue [is the] border. And this one man [Secretary Mayorkas] is the architect of destruction down here. One man has caused all this chaos, deaths of fentanyl poisoning, danger to the country with terrorists coming in, eight million encounters ... He has destroyed the fabric of this nation. He is the one who has injured society as the Founding Fathers talked about. Breach of public trust was sufficient for impeachment [according to] the Founding Fathers, and we intend to go forward [with impeachment].
