McCaul Applauds Swift Passage of House-Passed Sanctions Bill by the Senate

July 27, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Michael McCaul (TX-10) – Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee and a senior member of the Foreign Affairs Committee – applauded Senate's passage of the House bill H.R. 3364, the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act.

Congressman McCaul: "I applaud the Senate's swift passage of this sanctions package in uniformity with the House. Adversarial nations such as Iran, Russia, and North Korea need to know their provocative and destabilizing actions will come at a hefty price. While sanctions are not the be-all end-all, I believe they are a critical tool in the arsenal to deter aggression. I now urge President Trump to move expeditiously in signing this bill into law, which will send a strong signal to all antagonistic nations that the U.S. intends to uphold international law and protect our security interests here at home and around the globe."

The Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act now heads to the President's desk.
