Chairman McCaul Statement on General John F. Kelly
Washington, D.C. – House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) released the following statement on the President's appointment of General John F. Kelly to serve as White House Chief of Staff:
Chairman Michael McCaul: "General John Kelly is an excellent choice to serve as White House Chief of Staff. I am confident this battle-tested general's leadership will be a major asset to the President. During his tenure at the Department of Homeland Security, he has been a true leader and has been laser focused on finally securing our borders, enforcing our immigration laws, and defeating terrorism. He has also been a dedicated ally in helping pass the first ever DHS reauthorization and supporting other key security-focused legislation. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him to combat the most crucial homeland security challenges facing America.
"In his stead, I am fully confident Deputy Secretary Elaine Duke will be a stellar acting Secretary and look after the best interests of our security and all the hardworking personnel at DHS."
