High Tech and Semiconductors
High Tech Caucus
Business is the engine of America’s economy and the High Tech sector is the engine of America’s innovation. Shortly after I was first elected to the United States House, I formed the Congressional High Tech Caucus. Our goal is to find ways to keep America’s tech sector strong and provide our domestic industry with the support it needs to remain on the cutting edge. Bringing together the best and brightest minds in the high tech sector generates the ideas that create high paying jobs and allows us to become a more efficient and competitive nation.
Semiconductor Chips
During the 117th Congress, my CHIPS for America Actwas signed into law. I wrote this bill after President Trump's national security team came to me in 2020, recognizing the vulnerability of our dependence on foreign manufacturers and supply chains. Right now, Taiwan produces 90 percent of all advanced semiconductors chips, and the threat of a Communist China takeover of Taiwan is real.
Semiconductors are the brains behind everything from your cell phone to the advanced weapons systems that keep our nation safe. That makes them an integral part of our daily life – and the backbone of America's national security.
This bill will bring thousands of jobs to Texas and help bolster U.S. national security for years to come!
