McCaul Statement on Supreme Court Nomination

WASHINGTON, DC–Today following the President’s nomination of Merrick Garland, chief judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, to the Supreme Court, Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX) made the following statement:

McCaul: "Senator Cornyn and the Republican leadership in the Senate are correct in their decision to not confirm President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court. The precedent has been set for decades, and was continued by Vice President Biden when he was in the Senate, that the Senate should not confirm a Supreme Court nomination in an election year. The American people should have a voice in the direction of the court. They will have the opportunity to be heard at the ballot box in November."
